Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez debuted as a couple in 2017, more precisely at the Met Gala, which is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. So it is only fitting they would use the biggest fashion red carpet to debut another relationship milestone: their engagement status, coupled with a large engagement ring on the singer’s finger.
This year marked J Lo’s eleventh time at the Met Gala, and her third time with Rodriguez at her side. It also checked off two months since the couple’s engagement held at the Bahamas, which pretty much broke the internet.
The celebrity couple has make merry over this in style. Lopez shined like diamonds in a silver fringe beaded dress, which featured a plunging neckline. She teamed her look with a fringe headpiece. However, the sparkle did not end there. The “World of Dance” star wore a necklace with sapphire and diamond set in platinum. The piece featured a large cushion-cut sapphire set in an elegant cluster of pear- and marquise- and round-shaped diamonds. She added diamond chandelier earrings, and many bracelets and finger rings.
Rodriguez wore a tuxedo jacket of lilac color, a diamond and zalium shirt studs, and white gold timepiece. A-Rod too has proven to be extremely comfortable on the Met Gala red carpet, and is quite content with playing the role of an Instagram beau, which J Lo seems fond of laying out for him.
The actor-cum-singer said in an interview given to the “Today” program on TV, “He is the funniest. I think people don’t know that about him because they always thought he was so serious when he was a player. But they’re starting to learn that now because of Instagram. He’s like the dad with the camera. I mean, he’s just, like, taking pictures of everything, videos of everything and posting it before we approve! Even the kids, they’re like, ‘Dad! Dad! Stop! Please. You’re killing us right now.’”
Further, in a more recent interview with PEOPLE, she echoed a sentiment similar to the earlier one. Lopez shared, “He loves taking pictures and documenting the moment.” With regard to getting dressed up, Rodriguez said he has learned a lot of things from the American style icon. He shared, “Jennifer has taught me that it’s less about what you wear and more about the fit.”
The former MLB player spent months picking out the jaw-dropping diamond, eventually settling on a ring with 16-carat emerald-shaped stone. Talk about finding a place on the list of the most popular engagement rings – J LO’s already has, and we know this thanks to the Met Gala.
